I visited that store only one time in 1960 or '61 and this painting is exactly as I remember it. A lady by the name of Mrs. Drinkwater ran the store and post office. She was a very friendly, kind and hospitable lady. Thanks for bringing back so many wonderful memories to me through your many great paintings and sketches..

Sure enjoy all of your sketches George. This one of Ford's Cove reminds me so much of when I was a little boy living on Hornby. At that time the beach around the Cove was lined with shacks very similar to the one's in your sketch. The shacks were built slightly above the high tide line. Thinking back, I'm guessing they were built that way so as to not have to pay property tax. Most of the people living there were retired fishermen. I liked visiting them. One of the older gent's had a snuff can filled with nickles and dimes which he would reach for whenever I visited him. I never left his shack without at least a nickle. Big money for a little boy. You and your son are extremely talented men and both of you bring back a lot of great memories to this ex Hornbyite. I thank both of you for that.

Beautiful painting. I loved that little 2 car ferry. As a matter of fact, I worked on it as deckhand for a couple of years. Capt. Albert Savoie was a wonderful man to work for. If I could turn back time I would never have left that job.

John, if you're reading this I want to compliment you on that great song you wrote about/for Albert Savoie. You really did him proud.

Hi George,
I met you years ago when you gave a demonstration in water colour, at the Richmond Artists Guild.
You raffled the picture that you had been working on, and I was lucky enough to win the raffle.
I regret to say ,that it was not until today that I finally framed it.
I have to say it looks excellant, wish I'd done it sooner.
Myself I'm doing a fair amount of painting, and managed to sell a painting at the last juried exhibition
we had recently in Salmon Arm
I enjoyed your web page, and your very fine paintings.
Cheers and good luck from a fellow artist
